Über mich
Before I got into real estate, I was an educator. I started out as a teacher, of course (junior high-middle school language arts and social studies), eventually principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent. Due to job changes, I have had a lot of experience buying and selling homes. My wife refers to the first half of our marriage as “the time John couldn’t keep a job.”
Kim Mathis represented my wife and me in two purchases and one sale. We liked the way she handled the process, so when I decided to get my broker’s license, I contacted her. We had known each other a long time, though. She was my student when she was in the eighth grade. Now, she’s my boss and my role model!
I also have had a writing career. I write about dining, cooking, travel, and history, with over a thousand articles, as well as two cookbooks, in addition to textbooks and academic work, published over about 40 years.
My time as an educator includes a lot of studying, explaining, negotiating, solving problems, and resolving conflicts. These experiences are directly transferable to buying and selling homes. When we meet, first, I want to learn about you and what you want in our forthcoming real estate experience. I study the market and maintain lots of information about current conditions- homes that are available, what buyers and sellers are looking for, what financing products are available to help you get what you want.
Keller Williams, my brokerage, develops and utilizes cutting edge technology to manage real estate searches and transactions. If you select me as your real estate agent, you will receive access to all of this. Our systems ensure that all the complicated paperwork gets done and done correctly!
Here's a little something to think about: if you are buying a home, until you have your own buyer’s agent under contract, no one is really looking out for you, you can have no legal expectation of confidentiality, and the entire system is weighted in favor of the seller. And if you are selling, my training and knowledge, KW’s proprietary technology systems, as well as KW’s army of agents will help you enter the market in the most advantageous position and tilt the odds in favor of a successful outcome.
Don’t you want to have someone on your side, legally bound by the requirements of a fiduciary relationship, to help you manage one of the most consequential processes of your life? I’m here to help!
